Alpine League (the "Association", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of our users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our esports tournament platform at alpineleague.gg (the "Platform").
This Privacy Policy complies with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users within the EU/EEA.

3. Information We Collect
3.1 Account Information
When you register for an account on our Platform, we collect:
- Email address
- Username
- Country
3.2 Discord OAuth Information
When you authenticate using Discord OAuth, we collect:
- Discord ID
- Discord email address
- Discord username
- Discord avatar
3.3 Challengermode OAuth Information
When you connect your Challengermode account, we collect:
- Challengermode ID
- Challengermode Game Accounts
3.3 Tournament Data
We do not directly collect or store tournament-related game statistics. Tournament data (match results, team affiliations, tournament performance) is managed by Challengermode, our tournament platform provider. When you connect your Challengermode account to our Platform, we access this data via Challengermode's API solely for display purposes on our frontend. We do not store this information in our own databases.
3.4 Technical Data and Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics to collect technical information about your use of the Platform. This may include data automatically collected by Vercel's hosting infrastructure, such as IP addresses, browser type, device information, and access logs. We use this information to monitor platform performance, security, and user experience.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
4.1 Contract Performance
Processing of account information (email, username, country) and integration with Challengermode is necessary to provide you with access to our tournament services and fulfill our contractual obligations to you.
4.2 Consent
We rely on your consent for:
- Discord OAuth authentication, provided when you initiate the OAuth flow
- Sending marketing communications
- Sharing your personal data with sponsors and partners for marketing purposes or prize fulfillment
4.3 Legitimate Interest
We process analytics data based on our legitimate interest in maintaining platform security, improving user experience, and analyzing platform performance. These interests do not override your fundamental rights and freedoms.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your account
- To provide tournament services and display tournament data from Challengermode
- To authenticate you via Discord OAuth
- To send essential account notifications and tournament updates
- To send marketing communications (with your consent, and you may opt out at any time)
- To fulfill tournament prize distribution (with your consent)
- To analyze platform usage and improve our services
- To ensure platform security and prevent fraud
6. Third-Party Services
6.1 Vercel
Our Platform is hosted on Vercel. Vercel provides hosting infrastructure and analytics services. Technical data processed by Vercel is subject to Vercel's privacy policy.
6.2 Discord
We use Discord OAuth for authentication. When you authenticate via Discord, we receive your Discord ID, email, username, and avatar. Discord's processing of your data is governed by Discord's privacy policy.
6.3 Challengermode
Tournament functionality is provided by Challengermode. We access tournament data (match results, rankings, team information) via Challengermode's API for display purposes only. We do not store this data. Challengermode's data processing is governed by their privacy policy.
6.4 Resend
We use Resend as our email service provider to send account notifications, tournament updates, and marketing communications.
6.5 Redis
We use Redis for temporary caching purposes only. No personal data is permanently stored in Redis.
6.6 Neon
We use Neon for storing data in a Postgres Database including personal data like email, username and avatar. Technical data processed by Neon is subject to Neon's privacy policy.
7. Data Sharing and Disclosure
7.1 Service Providers
We share data with the third-party service providers listed in Section 6 to operate our Platform. These providers are obligated to process your data only as necessary to provide their services.
7.2 Sponsors and Partners
With your explicit consent, we may share your personal data with sponsors and partners for the following purposes:
- Marketing communications
- Prize fulfillment for tournament winners
- Anonymized or aggregated statistics that do not identify you individually
7.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental regulation, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
8. International Data Transfers
Some of our third-party service providers may be located outside Switzerland or the EU/EEA. In such cases, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or equivalent mechanisms, to protect your data in accordance with GDPR and FADP requirements.
9. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Upon account deletion or at your request, we will immediately delete or anonymize your personal data, except where retention is required by law.

You have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you.
10.2 Right to Rectification
You have the right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.

You have the right to request deletion of your personal data. We will immediately delete or anonymize your data upon request, except where we are legally required to retain it.
10.4 Right to Restriction of Processing
You have the right to request restriction of processing of your personal data under certain circumstances.

You have the right to object to processing of your personal data based on legitimate interests.
10.6 Right to Data Portability
This right is not currently available on our Platform. If you require data portability, please contact us at privacy@alpineleague.gg, and we will assist you manually.
10.7 Right to Withdraw Consent
Where processing is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can opt out of marketing communications by following the unsubscribe instructions in any email we send, or by contacting us directly.
10.8 Right to Lodge a Complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Switzerland, you may contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). If you are located in the EU/EEA, you may contact your local data protection authority.

11. Communication Preferences
We send the following types of communications:
- Essential account notifications and tournament updates, which are necessary for the operation of our services
- Marketing communications, which you may opt out of at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us at privacy@alpineleague.gg
12. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Children's Privacy
Our Platform does not impose age restrictions. However, if you are under 18 years of age, we encourage you to review this Privacy Policy with a parent or guardian. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child without appropriate parental consent where required by law, we will take steps to delete such information.

We use Vercel Analytics, which may employ cookies and similar tracking technologies to collect technical data about your use of the Platform. These technologies help us analyze platform performance, user behavior, and improve our services.
